[Mindanao Islam and Catholic] - International Interfaith Peace Walk

Interfaith Peace Walk in Mindanao

 

Lots of youth groups participated Peace Walk in Mindanao on January 23rd, 2014. Mindanao had a lot of religious conflicts between Islam and Catholics in the past, but as a chance of this Peace Walk campaign, they finally had a peace agreement.  This is a video of this Peace Walk.





Now we will watch a report on the Interfaith Peace Walk held in General Santos City, Mindanao. Numerous youth groups, students, and religious leaders have gathered here in General Santos City, Mindanao, for the Interfaith Peace Walk. They have gathered in hopes of achieving world peace. Rean Hacosda is reporting on the scene.

   The International Peace Youth Group and the Mindanao State University have come together to host an Interfaith Peace Walk in General Santos City.

   As a special guest, a Korean War veteran, and a man who dedicated his life to the spreading of the message of peace, the chairman of the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, has come all the way from South Korea. Ms. Nam Hee Kim, the chairwoman of the International Peace Women’s Group, was also here. They are joined by Mr. Esmael G.Mangudadatu, a key representative of the Islamic community in the region of Mindanao.

   As the highlight of the event, representatives of Catholic and Islamic communities in the region came together to sign an agreement towards making peace in this conflict ridden area.

[Ms. Nam Hee Kim] “If peace and love are all we have we truly be able to bless one another. I am certain that if the people of the Catholic, Protestant, and Islamic faiths can resolve their differences and work together, there will be peace.”

  This weekend, the government of the Philippines and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) also signed a Peace Agreement.
